The Minigun is one of the most powerful weapons in GTA 5 and is very useful in both story mode and online. You can acquire a gun in a number of ways, but some only allow you to own it for a single session of GTA Online, while others allow you to acquire the weapon and unlock it permanently.

In this guide, we’ll go over all the methods available to acquire weapons in Story Mode and Online.

Fort Zancudo

This is one of the most famous ways to get this weapon. It works in Story Mode and GTA Online. However, it’s rather difficult to get this weapon, as it’s located on top of the tower in Fort Zancudo.

Fort Zancudo is a military base, and as soon as you step inside the fort, you’ll immediately get five-star wanted. Fortunately, if you die after collecting a weapon, you’ll respawn with it. So all you have to worry about is how to get your weapons.

First, head to the main entrance of Fort Zancudo.

You can see the tower you need to go to from the main entrance of Fort Zancudo as shown in the picture above. This is Tower 1 of Fort Zancudo.

When you go through the fence you need to turn right and you will find the entrance to the tower directly in front of you. It will be named after the Green Twin Gate Towers.

Once inside, you’ll find a metal detector on the left. Go through it and continue to the next door leading to the stairs.

You need to go up six floors until you reach a door on the left. Go through the door and you’ll see a minigun on the floor.

Now, if the officers manage to kill you at this point, you don’t have to worry. In fact, it’s an easier way to get out of the fort. So, let a soldier eliminate you, and you’ll respawn at the nearest hospital with your minigun.

If you need more ammo, you’re in luck. After a while, the Minigun will respawn. You can return to stockpile minegun ammo at any time. If you don’t care about achievements, you can activate the invulnerability cheat and run up and down to spawn miniguns and keep collecting it.

Ammo Nation

The second method is very simple. You can buy Miniguns from Ammu-Nation. You can buy it in story mode and online mode. However, there are some requirements.

  • story mode

    • If you want to purchase it in story mode, you must complete the 46th main quest “The Paleto Score” to use the Minigun. This is already part of the story mode, so you might want to grab one from Fort Zancudo.

    Once available, you can pick it up from any Ammu-Nation store for $15,000.

  • online mode

    • In GTA Online, it can be purchased for $47,000 after you reach level 120.

The last way is to get it from the facility in GTA Online. This method only works in GTA Online and works for a single session. Once you leave a session or start a new one, you lose your Minigun. You will also need to purchase security upgrades for your facility.

First, head to your factory.

Once you’re inside, go through the security checkpoint to the master bedroom and other rooms.

You’ll find the minigun inside the security booth.

You can go around the back and go through the door to collect the Minigun.

This is a good way to get a makeshift Minigun only if you have the security upgrade facility. However, this ends up being the most expensive way to get the Minigun, which isn’t even a permanent unlock for you.

Since this method doesn’t unlock permanently, you can also collect miniguns if your friends have safe-upgraded facilities. You can go into their facility and grab a minigun for yourself.
