As part of its ongoing Christmas event, Rockstar has added a new random event and a collectible to GTA Online. New random events inspired by the 1988 Die Hard movie, featuring an event event taken directly from a famous scene in the Die Hard movie.
The event is completely random, and if you manage to trigger it, you can walk away with a brand new and exclusive WM 29 pistol. This pistol cannot be obtained any other way. However, there are several requirements that must be met in order for the event to be triggered.
The WM 29 pistol was inspired by the Heckler & Koch P7 pistol used by the film’s main antagonist, Hans Gruber.
You can fire events in any session, including private and public sessions. The event was held on the rooftop of the Weazel Plaza building. The Weazel Plaza building is modeled after the Nakatomi Plaza building seen in scenes from the Die Hard movie.
To trigger this event, you must be in a session for at least 20 minutes. Only after that, you have a chance to trigger the event. If the event is not triggering for you, try creating a new solo session or entering the public lobby. After joining, you must wait at least 20 minutes.
Another important requirement is to stay within 400 meters of Weazel Square at all times. If you are outside the 400m range, the event will not fire. This event is only triggered between 8pm and 6am game time (20:00 and 6:00).
As soon as the clock hits 20:00, start driving towards the square and you might just get lucky. As mentioned, the event takes place on the rooftop of the plaza, so you’ll need to take a flyer to get to the top. If you have a vulture or oppressor mk2, you can get a vulture. When an event is triggered, you’ll see a red dot appear on your minimap.
You will spot several criminals in a shootout with the police. One of the offenders will be wearing a beige suit. He represented Hans Gruber in the Die Hard movie. This is the character with the WM 29 pistol.
Kill him, go to his body. You will be prompted to collect pistols. Once you collect it, it can be customized in all ammo shops.
Some players reported that they got the event by first setting their spawn location to “last location” as soon as they entered another lobby. This is because some players may have fired the event before you joined the session.
In some cases it might work for you. If you find that the event has triggered and the enemies on the roof are all dead, approach the body of the character in the beige suit. If you get prompted to collect weapons, then congratulations, you are one of the lucky ones.
Some players left the body after waiting hours and trying to collect the pistol because it would bug them for them.
